Dimensions

 

This position will report to the Mechanical Supervisor.

Purpose

 

The successful applicant must be competent in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the underground mobile mining equipment. Performing work on structural, mechanical, and electrical and electronic systems. 

Essential Duties

 

Safety 

  • Is responsible for his/her health and safety.
  • Will correct or report unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Maintains a safe and healthful workplace.
  • Makes suggestions to improve any aspect of safety
  • Learns and follows the safety rules and procedures for safe performance of the job.

 

Main Duties 

  • Responsible for troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing, and performing predictive and preventive maintenance on underground and surface mobile equipment.
  • Responsible for compliance with OHSA, Corporate and PGM Environmental Regulations, Safety and Sustainability Standards.
  • Responsible to work collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals both within the department and cross-department.
  • Must be highly motivated, organized and must be capable of decision-making.
  • Responsible for providing his/her own tools.
  • Assisting in other works areas may be required.

Training & Experience

 

  •  Must be a certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.
  • Must have experience maintaining underground mobile equipment including loaders, truck, drills, bolters, personnel carriers and service type vehicles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and written skills.
  • High level of organizational skill.
  • Be technically competent
  • Willing to learn
  • Able to listen

 

Working Conditions

 

  • This position is located at the Hoyle Pond site, part of Newmont's Porcupine Mine Site near Timmins, ON. 
  • In this role, you will work a 5x5x4 schedule. As such, if you do not live near the site, we will require you to relocate. 
  • Position may be required to travel domestically and internationally
  • Flexible hours required to accommodate global nature of work
