Intermediate Mine Planner

Purpose
- Reporting directly to the Senior Mine Engineer – Short Term Planning, the primary responsibilities of the Intermediate Mine Planner is to ensure the short-term design requirements are completed and support the monthly 24-month forecast.
Responsibilities
- Help create and instill a culture of safety as a mentor and trainer of the Mine Planning Team.
- Coordinate workflow between the Mid-term Planner, Operations Planning Team, and Mine Planning Team.
- Support the Mid-term Planner and Operations Planning Team with mid and short-term scheduling.
- Provide input, guidance, and review on all stoping and development designs.
- Assist the Long-term planning team with the completion of reserve & resource generation, as required.
- Assist with long hole drill and blast design, development design, and mine plan sequencing and scheduling as required.
- Review and seek to optimize existing mine plans to unlock efficiencies through innovative and creative thinking.
- Report weekly/monthly/quarterly KPI’s as required.
- Under the guidance of Senior Engineers, review and update standards and best demonstrated practices in the Engineering department.
Requirements
- B.Sc. degree or Mining Technology diploma in Mining Engineering or suitable technical skills.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in an underground mine.
- Project coordination and project costing experience would be an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to develop practical, safe and cost-effective solutions.
- Proficiency with mine planning computer software (Deswik IS, Deswik CAD, EPS, Mine 2-4D, Vulcan, Microsoft Office).
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, listening).
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to positively interact with co-workers and team members.
- Ability to work with a diverse mix of cultures.
- Some supervisory experience would be an asset.
Working Conditions
- The scheduled rotation for this position will be 7 days on and 7 days off, working 12 hours per day.
