Certified Gas Fitter
Musselwhite site.
Purpose
Reporting to the Electrical Team Leader, the Certified Gas fitter will perform work primarily on surface with occasional work underground. This position is responsible for all gas fitting services on site including installation of all gas-burning appliances. The Gas fitter also repairs equipment such as propane, boilers, vaporizers, heaters and make-up air units.
Essential Duties
Health & Safety
- Speak up for health and safety, identify, report and address risks.
- Report to work physically fit.
- Complete safety training and certification as required by site and departmental procedure.
- Wear PPE at all time while in Maintenance environment.
- Follow operating procedures and comply with regulatory requirements.
Work Execution
- Perform all gas fitting, service, installation of all gas-burning appliances and related equipment as required
- Services to surface equipment and UG AC units
- Services fire systems, repairs propane equipment, vaporizers, heater and make-up air units, boilers and related controls
Work Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance duties on site-wide propane and fire system equipment as required
- Maintains and repairs air conditioning units
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and relevant regulation
- Obtain gas permits for all installations as required
- Ensure that all work scheduled through the planning system is carried out in a safe and efficient manner

Training & Experience
Knowledge:
- High school diploma required, college preferred
- Certified Gas Fitter TSSA G1
- HVAC and/or Refrigeration experience or certification is a definite asset to the position
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience (mine site experience is an asset)
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to quality work
- Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 55 lbs
- Ability to constantly reach above and at-shoulder level
- Ability to constantly work in a stooping/crouching position
Working Conditions
- The Musselwhite gold mine in northwestern Ontario is a fly-in, fly‑out operation on the southern shore of Opapimiskan Lake, about 480 kilometers (km) north of Thunder Bay in North West Ontario. An all-weather road connects the mine to the community of Pickle Lake, about 200 km to the south.
- Musselwhite is a remote site with frequent exposure to extreme cold conditions.
- Office arrangements will be provided on site with access to the Thunder Bay offices and boardroom as necessary.
- Accommodation is in a camp environment near the workplace.
- 12hr rotating shifts consistent day shifts in alternating 14 day cycles with 14 days off.
- Position may require traveling to and/or assisting of other domestic sites.
