Newmont Goldcorp Tanami Operation is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. A fully equipped 800 bed camp is located 40km from the site offering modern leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

About This Role:

Reporting to the HSS Manager, this position is primarily responsible for leadership, management and technical advice in all areas of the Emergency Service and Security function at NTO.

In This Role You Will:
  • Develop and implement measurements to ensure that the security team complies with NTO’s policies and procedures to deliver best practice in security and risk management
  • Guide, influence and educate line management on all matters relating to emergency and security issues.
  • Maintain, review and update Security Assessment tools including the Security Risk Register, Threat Risk Assessment and Security Vulnerability Assessment to ensure compliance with Global Security Standards.
  • Develop, implement and maintain effective protection and security policies and control mechanisms to ensure the ongoing security of NTO’s assets and employees
  • Formulate security strategies aimed at reducing security risks
  • Lead a group of health and emergency service professionals to support a healthy workforce with best practice emergency service support
  • Implement and deliver the sites health and wellness plans and objectives.
  • Lead the Emergency Management team with a focus on the continuous improvement of the Emergency Management Plans.
  • Manage the site Medical Centre and maintain a working relationship with external health providers and emergency service bodies.
  • Coordinate the operations injury management services inclusive of the workers compensation processes.
  • Lead the site fitness for work program.
  • Provision of risk based health programs with a focus on exposure reduction initiatives.
Your Skills, Training & Experience Checklist
  • 5 years security experience – emergency services, mining experience, policing or military background is highly regarded
  • Further studies/qualification in Security, Risk Management and Emergency Services will be helpful
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Understanding of Poisons / Privacy / Mines Safety / Workers Compensation and Injury management legislation
  • Understanding of Drug and Alcohol standards and processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a focus on Continuous Improvement.
  • The ability to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously and work under pressure is essential.
Working Conditions

Newmont Goldcorp Tanami Operations is a fly in and fly out mine site and located in the Tanami Desert of the Northern Territory.


The position is a site based role offered on a fly in / fly out basis from Perth, Brisbane, Darwin or Alice Springs on a 8/6 roster.
