Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

The Role:

The PCR Supervisor oversees planned component rebuilds and is tasked with the planning and coordination of all mobile maintenance activities on a weekly and daily basis, ensuring they are carried out safely and efficiently. This includes adherence to safety standards, practices, and the execution of daily safety assessments. The supervisor is also in charge of the daily organisation of mobile maintenance tasks, effectively allocating resources, equipment, and personnel. The role involves resolving technical and logistical challenges that occur, managing the maintenance team by setting performance objectives, and guaranteeing that all maintenance activities are in compliance with statutory requirements and safety regulations.

 

Accountabilities:

Ensure the safe execution of maintenance work according to the agreed schedule by collaborating daily with maintenance staff, providing clear directions and expected outcomes in terms of safety, repair quality, and turnaround times. Oversee the requisitioning of parts, disposal of unusable parts, and classification of reclaimable and reusable parts concerning repairs. Prioritise and assign work, offering instruction, assistance, and direction to all staff and contractors courteously. Conduct regular workshop floor inspections to ensure maintenance practices adhere to safety guidelines and standard operating procedures. Work in collaboration with other Maintenance Supervisors to prioritise personnel and equipment management. Lead Safety and End of Shift meetings. Supervise the servicing, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment and components, carrying out safety and technical inspections. Provide resource leveling data for effective scheduling. Offer on-the-job training and hands-on technical assistance to Apprentices and tradespersons as needed, demonstrating the use of test equipment and procedures.

About You:

  • Trade Qualified and possessing ample post-trade experience within the mining sector.
  • Prior experience in a similar role, particularly with underground work, is highly valued.
  • Well-versed in maintenance planning techniques and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Able to meet deadlines, manage time effectively, and exhibit leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent communication abilities, encompassing both verbal and written skills.
  • A strong sense of ownership over one's department and responsibilities is crucial.

 

Working Conditions:

The position operates on a 2:2 work roster (two weeks on, two weeks off) and is situated at our Tanami site in the Northern Territory, offering various hiring locations.
