  • Perform inspections of the pit, waste dump facilities, and surface geotechnical infrastructures as well as utilize information provided by the instrumentation systems (Radar, Robotic Total Station, Volumetric Wire Piezometer, Extensometers, Sloughmeters, etc.) to proactively assess ground control risk and ensure ground support systems are adequate to mitigate geotechnical risk to workers.
  • Contribute to the mine planning process by conducting analysis and providing recommendations pertaining to slope stability by using numerical modeling techniques (Rocscience suites, Deswik CAD, etc.) and empirical design charts to predict mine performance.
  • Perform quality control audits of pit and waste dump designs to ensure compliance to long-term mine plan and investigate improvement in geotechnical guidance through analysis of historical data.
  • Review mine plans to ensure alignment to geotechnical guidance in all planning cycles, i.e., short, medium, and long-term planning
  • Reconcile actual volumetric slope stability performance with predicted and/or modeled performance. Use the information to refine site-specific stability predictions.
  • Address geotechnical issues documented in the ground control logbook as appropriate.
  • Review of other engineering prints to ensure geotechnical risk/hazards are identified and ground support/strategy outlined is appropriate for the local ground conditions.
