The Role

We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Senior Contracts Administrator to support our Tanami Expansion 2 project located at Newmont’s mining operations at Tanami, in the Northern Territory.  This major project is currently constructing a new concrete lined vertical hoisting shaft to a depth of 1,460 metres below surface, together with associated material handling systems both underground and on the surface.  The project contractors and equipment suppliers being engaged for the project are being managed by an EPCM contractor.  The  Senior Contracts Administrator will oversee the EPCM contractor’s contracting and procurement activities and be the primary interface with Newmont on related commercial matters.

This position is part of the Projects Commercial team within the regional Supply Chain function.  The team supports the ongoing pipeline of major projects, sustaining capital projects and capital investment studies in the Australia region.  While the focus for this role over the next few years will be on TE2, the role will be assigned to other major project work in future years once TE2 has reached completion.   

This position is a permanent role and is Perth based in our Subiaco office.  The Projects Commercial team works remotely 3 days per week with the remaining 2 days in the office.  Site visits will occasionally be required.

The Person

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Commerce, Business, Accounting or related field.
  • Post graduate qualifications will be looked upon favourably.
  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years experience in the lifecycle management of contracts including procurement planning, tendering, negotiation, administration and close-out.
  • Experience working for a principal in brownfields construction and capital procurement projects.
  • Experience in the oversight and management of EPCM contracts.
  • Experience in coordinating requirements across multiple functions and managing multiple assignments.
  • Mining experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills using office software such as MS Office.
  • Knowledge of SAP or equivalent enterprise level software packages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
