Our Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an experienced Contracts Specialist to support our Sourcing and Portfolio team. This position is responsible for the tendering, negotiating, awarding and on-going administration of contracted mining service contracts across the Australian region.

 

In this role, you will

  • Develop and execute Newmont’s strategic sourcing strategies for commodities and services in accordance with Newmont’s policies, procedures, standards and internal customer requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key internal clients on and off site across all levels, ensuring high level satisfaction.
  • Monitor performance of contracts against contracted KPIs.
  • Provide contract technical expertise and support for continuous improvement
  • Contract management
    • Timely and effective preparation and evaluation of tenders,
    • Contract negotiation with tenderers,
    • Tender and contract recommendations based on the risk, quality, cost and delivery of the goods or services required,
    • Preparation of contract documentation, issuance of award of contracts and decline notices,
    • Close out of contracts.
  • Ongoing contract support and governance ensuring business partner adherence to Newmont terms.
  • Escalate contractual issues to relevant stakeholders and coordinate the facilitation and resolution of issues.
  • Manage Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) in accordance with Newmont Supplier Risk Management (SRiM) guidelines.

 

This opportunity is being offered as a 12 month fixed term contract.

About you

We are open to candidates from a diverse range of industries or backgrounds for this opportunity. We will be most keen to understand your Contracts Specialist skills in procurement, contracts negotiation and administration. Tertiary qualifications in Business, Supply Chain or related field will be viewed favourably.

 

Other key skills required include:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio. SAP or large ERP system experience highly regarded.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills to effectively manage a large portfolio in a dynamic and fast paced environment
