Regional site support is provided through Newmont Asia Pacific’s (APAC) Perth team which is located in modern offices in Subiaco where we provide support to operations in Australia.

The Role

When you join Newmont’s paid Summer Vacation Program, you not only leave with a deeper understanding of the mining industry and new-found friendships, you get a glimpse into what life at Newmont is like.


Our Vacation Students have real responsibilities and help us tackle problems within all aspects of Newmont’s operations from our regional corporate office to being able to get your hands dirty at one of our three sites across Australia. Which is why many of our vacation students return for a second year and why we transition a large number of them into full-time roles.


We are seeking students who are in their 2nd or penultimate year of studies, although exceptional 1st year students will be considered. If you possess a strong academic record and strive for personal achievement with a genuine interest in working within the mining industry, we strongly encourage you to apply.

Key Features of the Vacation Program

  • Maximum 12 weeks’ work experience at our Australian Operations;
  • Possibility of project work;
  • Hands-on work experience;
  • Entry point to Newmont Asia Pacific’s Emerging Talent (Graduate) Program.

Civil/Structural Engineering undergraduates will be studying towards an/or possess:

  • Bachelor of Engineering - Ideally in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • High written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong focus on teamwork
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
