Purpose

This position provides assistance with planning and scheduling of technical training programs.
The Clerk provides administrative support through detailed recording/monitoring / reporting functions, 
manage, and maintain the Project and Business Partner Invoices. The position will support mandatory 
safety training for all employees to be safe and productive contributors in their assigned roles in the 
operation.
Support the coordination of daily tasks to ensure training plans are met while adhering to proper 
standards and procedures.
The Clerk, shall have the opportunity to get on the job training, as well as self-education through 
documentation while being a productive asset to the team.

Essential Duties

Health & Safety

  • Report to work physically fit
  • Perform daily workplace inspections to identify hazards and assign actions for resolution of identified hazards
  • Report safety incidents
  • Complete safety training and certification as required by site and departmental procedure

Strategy and Procedure Development

  • Follow and implement all established safe and efficient procedures for all routine tasks in compliance with legislation and Newmont Standards

Administration- and Training duties:

  • Assist with the execution of trainings when needed
  • Identify Accruals, Re- classification, Invoices
  • Creating the Matrix/Curricula in the Global LMS
  • The Vendor Management (vendor invoice review and approvals).
  • Purchase Requisition creation. Vendor Requests Process. Managing the shared files with the vendors (update documents)
  • Provide administrative support in the development of HSLP and Environmental/Social Responsibility Modules.
  • Support HSLP and ESR training to ensure competence and safe workforce of employees. Shared responsibility.
  • Work closely with the Training Superintendent to ensure that the program and emphasis are in accordance with prevailing document control standards of training and operation.
  • Support scheduling, planning, and training the national workforce to Newmont Suriname Standards.
  • Ensure complete recording and reporting policies and procedures are implemented and maintained, to meet both Newmont Suriname and Suriname Government requirements.
  • Support document management collection for audits.
  • prepare and present reports on training for the general workforce.
  • Assist the trainers with development of curriculum, lesson plans, and learning support materials as required.

 

Training & Experience

Knowledge:

  • Strong Presentation-, and Motivational skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical, sensitive information

Experience:

  • 3 years of work experience in a similar position
  • Cultural awareness, respect towards others, and an understanding of different learning styles and principles as it relates to adult learning
  • Experience with program implementation and change management
  • Technical/Vocational training management and implementation experience

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to identify problems, make decisions, create solutions, and act
  • Ability to handle a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job duties, and a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work under limited supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a supportive, positive approach to training and development
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with employees at various levels in the organization
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel applications
  • Good Sranang Tongo, Dutch and English language skills are required
  • Strong presentation skills, ability to effectively communicate with personnel of different skill and experience levels
  • Able to work with a team of professionals

Working Conditions

  • The position is located on the Merian Mine Site in Suriname, working in the mine conducting inclass and on-the-job training.
  • The administrative part of the work will be performed in a shared office.
  • Merian is a remote site located in a warm, humid tropical rainforest environment;
  • Accommodation is in a man camp/village environment near the workplace;
  • Position may require traveling to and/or assisting of other work locations.
  • The training coordinator must be able to wear all personal protective equipment required by each area of operation, as specified in the Health and Safety plan
