The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Purpose

The Project Materials Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the efficient and effective management of materials throughout the project lifecycle. Their primary objective is to ensure that all necessary materials are delivered, and utilized in a timely manner to support project timelines and objectives. This includes monitoring inventory levels, and managing material storage and distribution onsite. The Project Materials Coordinator will work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to identify material requirements and track material usage. Additionally, they will maintain accurate records of material transactions, handle material inspections and quality control processes. Ultimately, the Project Materials Coordinator plays a pivotal role in facilitating smooth project operations by ensuring the availability and proper utilization of materials needed for project success.

Essential Duties

1.Materials Planning and Procurement Support: Coordinate with procurement teams to source, order, and expedite materials required for project execution, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budgetary constraints. 
2.Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of materials inventory levels and locations, tracking receipts, issuances, and returns. Assist in conducting regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies. Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure proper storage and handling of materials. 
3.Shipping and Logistics: Arrange transportation and logistics for incoming and outgoing materials, coordinating with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs agents to ensure smooth and timely delivery. Prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and customs declarations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. 
4.Documentation and Recordkeeping: Generate and maintain documentation related to materials procurement, including purchase orders, delivery receipts, and invoices. Organize and maintain electronic and physical files to ensure easy  access and retrieval of relevant information for project tracking and reporting purposes. 
5.Project Coordination: Collaborate with project teams to identify materials requirements and coordinate delivery schedules to support project timelines. Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to provide updates on material availability, delivery status, and potential delays, proactively addressing any issues to minimize project disruptions. 
6.Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and protocols while performing materials coordination activities. Ensure that materials handling and transportation practices comply with relevant safety standards to minimize the risk of accidents, incidents, and environmental hazards.

Training & Experience

Knowledge: 
    
        
Experience: 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in materials coordination, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in the mining or construction industry.  

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in materials planning, procurement processes, and logistics coordination. 
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with project teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders. 
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to materials handling and transportation. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with materials management software systems 
  • Willingness to work in challenging environment. 
  • Friendly, courteous and professional manner when dealing with people both over the telephone and in person.  
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Dutch and/or Sranan Tongo is a plus.
     

Working Conditions

  • Able to work at the Merian Site, a remote area 
  • Able to live for 14 days in a Camp environment 
  • Able to deal with different cultures
