About this role


What will you be responsible for?
Technical Services provides global support to Newmont and its operating businesses across a range of specialized technical functions. Within Technical Services, the Asset Management (AM) function will be responsible for creating and implementing effective global asset strategies, delivering efficient asset planning and strategic insights to drive exceptional global asset performance across Newmont’s portfolio. It aims to ensure that Newmont’s asset management processes and capabilities are a source of sustainable and considerable competitive advantage for Newmont. This is achieved by focusing on business process standardization, proactive collaboration, competency and capability development, maintenance and reliability practices, relevant global productivity metrics and targeted value-adding asset lifecycle cost improvements. The AM function is focused on delivering value aligned with our philosophy of continuous improvement and rapid replication.
The Asset Planning function is responsible for the delivery of effective maintenance plans and schedules designed to improve the efficiency of site maintenance teams and drive improved equipment performance. The Regional Asset Planning Superintendent will be responsible for leading a regional team of Asset Planners and Work Management Coordinators to ensure the centralize AM function is enabling sites to achieve reliability and cost targets. 
Key outcomes include:

  • Overseeing the preparation and delivery of long and short-term plans and schedules for the region to optimize costs, improve efficiency and drive equipment reliability and availability for a mine or process department
  • Establishing and maintaining clear communication with central and site teams to support the execution of the plan
  • Creating and communicating AM standard processes and technical vision across Newmont portfolio

Leads Planning and Scheduling Process

  • We provide direction to regional asset planning team to deliver long and short-term plans and schedules to support achieving site business plans
  • We identify and prioritize new opportunities and ensure consistency across the regional team across the planning process 
  • We ensure standard processes for planning and scheduling are implemented and maintained 
  • We engage with site and regional customers to resolve any issues and support investigations into performance gaps within planning
  • We promote a proactive culture of reliability in the planning process across the region 

Monitors Adherence to Plan and Identifies Improvement Areas

  • We ensure and supervise the correct use of the ERP systems
  • We drive adherence to planning and scheduling processes and review performance KPI’s with regional team to identify areas of improvement 
  • We monitor planning and scheduling KPIs and targets and develop plans to correct any deviations from the planning process.
  • We collaborate with Strategic planning and OSN teams to identify needs for equipment strategies or Life Cycle Cost Models reviews and ensure updates are rolled out 
  • We provide regional input to strategic planners on compliance to budget and any expected variances from long-term budgets 
  • We continuously identify and drive opportunities to improve planning activities and Implement the best practise updates and changes. 

Support talent management for Asset Planners

  • We implement global talent management strategy and pipeline for Asset Planners and Work Management Coordinators including identifying and addressing training needs.
  • We provide coaching, mentorship, and development for direct reports

Knowledge: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • ERP systems experience desirable
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance principles and industry standards
  • Thorough knowledge of planning, work management and reliability principles
  • Thorough knowledge of performance measures and their interpretation

Experience: 

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a heavy industry with asset management and operations experience preferred 
  • Proven experience leading a hard-working team and implementing value driven improvements
  • Experience with manual and computerized maintenance planning systems
  • Experience with change, communication and knowledge management methodologies
  • Experience in implementing Asset Management principles and standard processes across multiple sites

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to drive performance improvement initiatives in a complex and global organization
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate both in person and virtually 
  • Demonstrated leadership through coaching, mentoring, and developing individuals and teams
  • An ability to quickly assess information to diagnose problems and opportunities, with a track record of strong professional judgement and critical thinking 
  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholders across different functions and between site and central teams 
  • The ability to work flexibly to meet the frequent out of normal office hours requirements of leading a globally diverse team
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a hard-working, multi-disciplined, diverse team
