Team Leader, Engineering and Controls

Purpose

The Engineering and Controls Leader manages the activities of a skilled, technical and professional staff engaged in managing the estimating, design, planning, and construction of buildings, roads, wells, electrical distribution, PTAR facilities, Water Facilities, and various infrastructure projects required by the Peñasquito Sustainability department.

Responsibilities

Manage the Engineering and Control Team under the direction of the project’s superintendent. Plan, organize, and oversee implementation of various construction projects. Develop estimates of time, labor, materials, cost requirements, and cost controls. Develop department and project budgets. Extracts data from sources such as blueprints, engineering orders, reports, and specifications to organize the work of engineers, construction contractors, and vendors. Mentors, trains, guides, and evaluates staff performance, making recommendations for improvement. Lead and manage engineering and construction documentation preparation. Receive and approve scopes and requisitions for materials and contractors. Make recommendation on contractor and material selections to Supply Chain based upon detailed review and TBA’s. Identifies performance issues of staff and contractors and works toward with multiple parties to resolve them. Ensures compliance with regulatory and legal issues.

Responsibilities 2

Ensure compliance with corporate guidelines. Develop procedures that establish and govern safety standards and quality of Infrastructure operations. Performs other duties as assigned.  Ensures all meetings, correspondence, instructions, etc., are properly recorded distributed and archived as required. Manages completion of all required metrics and reports within established guidelines. Maintains level of personnel required to perform the functions required to maintain and deliver projects within budget and schedule. Develops, and reviews AFE’s required by management, budget requirements, and projects and makes applicable presentations in English. Supervises a department of approximately 10 people. Perform detailed risks assessments in conjunction with the team and other departments for all projects. Requirements

  • Strong technical and analytical skills centered around planning, cost control, QA/QC, and reporting.
  • Has a proven track record of managing several activities or projects at the same time and in an efficient manner.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty/key responsibility satisfactorily.  The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Demonstrated abilities and leadership to meet and comply with challenging and changing production targets.

Experience

  • 10 to 15+ years related industry experience with 5+ years’ experience managing multiple projects.
  • Above average communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring junior engineers
