Temporary position, 12 months.

The Health and Safety Supervisor is to effectively manage all aspects of health and safety for the TIE Project Management and Infrastructure Groups at Peñasquito Minera through mentoring and influencing all stakeholders and contractors.  This position will report on a daily basis to the Safety Department and provide safety direction, guidance and monitoring of safety programs in the TIE Project Management and Infrastructure teams.


The ability to be able to problem solve, interpret complex issues and motivate others to work to the best of their ability is essential. Conduct internal safety reporting investigation when required and manage/track open reports to ensure timely closure and appropriate actions are undertaken to prevent reoccurrence. Develop, upgrade, update and implement health and safety management systems on site at Peñasquito. Manage/conduct regular audits of operational Health and Safety procedures as well as their associated applications and identify potential health and safety issues and risk on site at Peñasquito. Ensure any corrective and preventative actions relating to the safety procedures, processes and organizational systems are carried out, effectively and in a timely manner. Coordinate with different departments to ensure hazards in the working environment are minimized to an acceptable level. Manage/conduct relevant health and safety training. Ensure all relevant laws, legislations, regulations & requirements of Health and Safety are applied at all levels of the operations at Peñasquito mine within the TIE Project, Management and Infrastructure areas.

Responsibilities 2

Conducts weekly and monthly health and safety inspections and measures all aspects of health and safety and audit compliance with the respective programs. Reduces or eliminates workplace accidents/incidents/exposure. Continuously review risks, identify new ones and ensure those existing are adequately addressed to prevent incidents. Ensure all health and safety reports are accurate and submitted timely. The overall responsibility for the development, implementation and on-going maintenance of the Safety Management Systems and associated documents for TIE Projects and Infrastructure. Develop and maintain procedures for the identification of non-conformances and monitoring, implementation and completion of corrective and preventative actions. Lead by example. Provide energetic leadership and act as a mentor. Focus on driving continuous improvement in zero harm performance and industry best practice in risk management through the provision of incident data and root cause analysis


  • Demonstrated supervisor skills, particularly in managing complex organisational projects
  • Demonstrated high level of written ability in areas such as preparation of reports, correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Proven experience in the supervision and direction of staff and contractors involved in works
  • High level computer literacy skill in Microsoft suite and ability to learn new reporting applications as per Company standard
  • Evidence of continued training in construction and project safety.
  • Expert knowledge in the administration of Golden Rules/Life Saving Rules.
  • Knowledge of the Newmont FRM program is desirable


  • Management level experience across multiple functions in the mining and construction sector
  • Experience in the Contract Management of multiple contract companies
  • Experience with Peñasquito preferred.
  • A driver’s license is required.
