Senior Tax Analyst

  • To provide support to the Tax Manager with achieving departmental goals and covering all compliance duties for the Operating company in a timely manner.
  • This role will be heavily involved in the Federal tax compliance and Federal tax audits, gathering, and reviewing information collected from both internal and external parties for both purposes.
  • Provide support to the Manager gathering information for tax planning and risk management, by conducting tax research, coordinating  with other areas to get the information needed, executing income tax controls, and providing internal tax advice to the operation on routine transactions.
  • Role will also be expected to contribute to the timely preparation of income tax computations, tax returns for reporting and statutory tax filing purposes and help to the management estimating cash taxes for forecasting and budgeting purposes. 
  • Provide support to the tax manager in charge of tax audits to gather and prepare information needed by tax authorities.

Duties and Responsibilities 1

Retrieve data from SAP and BPC.

Obtain schedules from stakeholders and incorporate same in tax computations.

Provide support to prepare and verify tax calculations and to comply with tax obligation (monthly, annual, and informative tax returns)

Verify tax compliance and avoid penalties.

Provide support to the management to review transfer pricing transactions implications and intercompany agreements.

Administrate tax calendar of obligations for operating company, tax files and Electronica firms, stamps validity date to renovate on timely manner

Provide support to SE&R area to determine tax impact for payments to Ejidos and communities

Provide support preparing information and gathering and review from other areas information needed to response Federal tax audits.

Provide support to the management to have enough information to prepare responses to the tax audits in process.

Duties and Responsibilities 2

Provide support to the management to prepare defense files to anticipate work for future tax audits.

Maintain a reliable tax filing system, while consulting with other departments to coordinate information for tax audits.

Generate continuous improvement initiatives

Help to prepare tax provision calculations ETR and complete method with actuals, tax accounts balance reconciliations review, tax projections review,

Help to the management to prepare reports as need to provide explanations of variations.

Generate continuous improvement initiatives and advise to the Manager from time to time.

Provide support to the management executing major tax projects assigned

Proactively propose potential Project risks needed.
Contribute to preparing the annual budget and revised forecasts.

Provide support to the management Investigating deviations from budget during the quarterly forecasting processes.


1. Intermediate English-speaking skills.

2. Experience to manage an ERP accounting system / SAP preferable

3. Deep knowledge to interpret and applying Tax Laws and treaties to avoid double taxation.

4. Advanced knowledges of Excel program

               5. Experience attending audit process

               6. Strong communications skills, promoting and cooperating to create teamwork.


6 years in tax area, experience in one of the big four desirable ( at least 3 years).

Minimum 5 years’ experience with at least 3 years working in a tax compliance or advisory position with a “Big 4” accounting firm. 

Experience working in-house for a mining company is a plus.


Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, leadership, and project management skills.


High level of motivation.
