About this role

The Senior Advisor - Control Room Operations (CRA) is an integral part of the Processing Operational Support Network (OSN) and is responsible for improving operational consistency and performance across Newmont’s fixed plant control rooms. 
We're is responsible for the identification of control system and/or process improvement opportunities through the development of key performance indicators, measuring individual and site performance against internal and external benchmarks. 
We will collaborate and guide site personnel in conjunction with the metallurgical analysts and process control engineering teams, to implement, embed and sustain the necessary change required to realize the full value of these improvements, escalating where consensus cannot be reached.
We lead the development and maintenance of a library of operational performance improvements, supervising current status and value delivery by site, and potential for scalability through the rapid replication of standard methodology.
We accelerate rapid replication through peer interactions, formal knowledge sharing platforms such as Yammer and participation in global Community of Practice forums 
We support the Principal Advisor - Control Room Operations to define appropriate standards and develop a global skills and competency framework that delivers consistent control room operational practices across all sites. 
We assess, train, mentor, and coach site control room operators to improve operational performance and individual competencies in accordance with the global skills and competency framework.
We provide direct supervision to Control Room Advisor(s) including setting annual goals, leading performance, and directing career development practices.

In this role your will

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • We develop and monitor key site metrics to find opportunities that improve operational performance, including mentorship and development of CRAs performing this same work.
  • We collaborate with and guide site personnel to implement vital changes required to achieve the full value of operational performance improvements.
  • We develop and maintain a library of operational performance improvements inclusive of current status, value delivery and potential for scalability
  • We accelerate rapid replication through peer interactions, formal knowledge sharing and participation in global Community of Practice forums
  • We support the Principal Advisor - Control Room Operations to define appropriate standards and develop global skills and competency framework for control room operations
  • We train, assess, mentor and coach site control room operators on a regular basis to improve performance in accordance with the global skills and competency framework.

Your training, skills and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!

Training:

  • Minimum high school education 
  • Certificate IV or Advanced Diploma in Process Plant Technology or equivalent (preferred)
  • Certificate or Advanced Diploma in Frontline Leadership (preferred)

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years operating experience across common gold processing unit operations including: Crushing, Grinding, Gravity Separation, Flotation, Thickening, Leaching, Filtration, Elution and Residue Disposal.
  • Minimum 5 years’ control room operator experience in the minerals processing industry 
  • Control room supervisor and/or Operations coach/trainer experience is highly regarded
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in the optimization of mineral processing plants operation.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in mineral processing plant operation.
  • Experience working in multi-cultural working environment is highly regarded
  • Validated experience in using analytical tools to assess processing plant operational performance (e.g. PI vision, Process Historian, Excel tools, etc.)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong dedication to safety and solid understanding of risk management processes 
  • Strong understanding of gold processing plant unit operation, and process optimization.
  • Validated experience with SCADA and Distributed Control Systems 
  • Solid understanding of Advanced Process Control (SGS Advanced Systems, Metso OCS4-D, etc.).
  • Ability to rapidly diagnose, understand and communicate complicated operational challenges and solutions.
  • Assertive, self-motivated and able to build collaborative and productive professional relationships across sites and regions.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and facilitation skills across organizational levels
  • Capacity to create vision, set expectations, monitor performance, mentor and train Control Room Advisors and meet goals and deadlines is highly valued.
  • Advanced computer competency and experience in the use of applications including Microsoft Office, PI vision, SAP, CMS, etc.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English 

Working Conditions and location

Where you will be located!

This professional supports multiple sites and is encouraged to perform significant domestic and international travel 
The role involves a combination of site and home / office work. 
This position reports to the Principal Advisor – Control Room Operations.
