About this role

The Ancillary Equipment Superintendent has the responsibility for the day-to-day operations within the Ancillary equipment workshop. The role provides leadership, direction, and coordination to implement all maintenance activities, both planned and unplanned assigned to these areas. We are responsible and accountable for implementation and compliance with Peñasquito Work Management System (WMS) 
The primary focus for this role is on safety and safe work practices aligned to the Newmont standard. There is an expectation that safety coaching and mentoring to all employees under this area of control is mandatory, driving towards a target of zero harm within the area of control.
The Ancillary equipment Superintendent will identify key potential successors within their talent pool to coach and mentor into the Superintendent role, by imparting previous experience and knowledge.

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
We are responsible and accountable for area business objectives and optimization of processes,methodology,and technological applications to achieve improved equipment reliability and availability.The role adopts a strong commitment to safety as the top priority and to ensure compliance with all applicable Government Regulations and Newmont’s HSE specifications and standards and is responsible for the following areas and equipment:

  • Track type Dozers, Motor Graders, Wheel Dozers,small excavators,water trucks,small plant (welders,air compressors,forklifts, workshop plant, etc.)
  • Workshop bays assigned for the maintenance and repair activities of the Ancillary equipment
  • Tow Haul trailer and truck unit(793C)
  • Small wheel loaders used in the Plant (WA600’s)
  • Hose Power supply contract
  • Any other equipment or contracts as assigned by the Mine Maintenance Manager

Required Experience & Qualifications

Qualification and skills establish our role as a proactive leader in the development and execution of extraordinary maintenance practices that incorporate continuous improvement and standard process philosophies.
  • The Ancillary equipment Superintendent must have the following qualifications and skills:
  • Demonstrated commitment to Safety
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Strategic, conceptual, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledgeable in the employment and integration of proactive maintenance concepts.
  • Demonstrated organizational and team leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skill
  • Strong work ethic and be self-motivated.
  • Proficient computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Knowledge of Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS.)

 

Additional experience & qualifications

  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Has held a similar Superintendent level position previously preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working on Mine sites or similar maintenance or manufacturing industry.
