Intern - Resource Modeling

Purpose

 

Resource Modeling includes Geology and Geostatistical support for operations, projects and corporate development.  This includes geological modeling, geostatistical analysis, resource estimation, and resource risk assessment and quantification.

Essential Duties

 

The intern will be responsible for implementing specific Resource Modeling projects during the course of his or her internship, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of the department. The exact projects will be determined according to the intern’s availability, interest, skills, and experience.

 

Possible projects include:

  • Research into multiple topics including geological and geostatistical methods.
  • Building geological and resource models.
  • General support to the Resource Modeling Team for data analyses and reporting
  • Support cross-functional collaboration on projects with Mine Engineering such as stochastic mine planning.

 

The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work; other work may also be assigned.

Training & Experience

 

  • Graduate students preferred, graduating in December 2020 or later – enrolled in Geology, Geoscience, Geostatistics or Mining Engineering programs.   Other disciplines will be considered.
  • Experience in mining and/or passion to learn about the hard-rock mining industry preferred
  • Strong organization, project and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfort engaging with senior leaders and global teams
  • Strong research methods capability and writing skills
  • At least a 3.0 GPA or equivalent
  • Valid work authorization to work in the United States for this position. 
Working Conditions

 

  • This is a full-time (40 hours per week), paid internship that will run from approximately May 11, 2020 thru August 14, 2020 depending on the selected student's school schedule.
  • This role will be located at our Corporate Headquarters located in Greenwood Village, CO.
