Internal Audit provides independent, value-added audit and advisory services to our stakeholders in a professional and transparent manner. The Global Technology Audit and Data Analytics team evaluates Newmont’s technology risk landscape and provides data-driven insights to strengthen Newmont’s control environment with clear and actionable outcomes for the business.

Essential Duties


As an intern, you will be responsible for implementing specific Internal Audit projects, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of your department. The exact projects will be established according to your availability, interest, skills, and experience, in addition to the specific business needs.


Possible projects include:

  • Support development and implementation of a data analytic department program.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify anomalies, trends and derive insights in datasets to support assessment of risk and controls.
  • Research into multiple topics including: business process and fraud analytics, metrics, visualizations, digitalization strategies.
  • Support development and implementation of department technology.
  • General support to the Global Technology Audit and Data Analytics team for data analysis, planning, testing and reporting.


The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work; other work may also be assigned.

Training & Experience


  • Undergraduate or graduate student graduating in December 2020 or later – Bachelor’s in Business Analytics, Math, Statistics, or Computer Science.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and engaging with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong project management, problem solving and analytical skills combined with business acumen
  • Tableau and programming or scripting experience (SQL, Visual Basic, ACL Analytics)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfort engaging with senior leaders and global teams
  • Interest to learn about the hard-rock mining industry preferred
  • At least a 3.0 GPA or equivalent
  • Valid work authorization to work in the United States for this position. 
Working Conditions


  • This is a full-time (40 hours per week), paid internship that will run from approximately May 11, 2020 through to August 14, 2020 depending on the selected student's school schedule.
  • This role will be located at our Corporate Headquarters located in Greenwood Village, CO.
