Intern - Business Planning

Business Planning works to develop the annual business plan, quarterly forecasts, and is instrumental in reporting and analysis for Newmont.

Essential Duties


Summer intern positions begin in May 2020 and conclude in August 2020. The exact dates are flexible depending on each student’s availability and our business need.  Our internships are full-time paid positions (40 hours/week).

This internship is based at our corporate headquarters in Greenwood Village, CO.  It is possible some travel may be required to one or more of Newmont’s sites. There is ample opportunity for internal networking within our company.

As an intern, you will be responsible for implementing specific Business Planning projects, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of your department. The exact projects will be established according to your availability, interest, skills, and experience, in addition to the specific business needs.


Possible projects include:

  • Assist in preparing the 2021 business plan
  • Provide support on monthly internal performance reporting and analysis
  • Assist in building and interpreting financial models and statements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement programs and projects
  • Assist in validations of reports, presentations and models
  • Maintain dashboards, spreadsheets and other metric-driven tools
  • Contribute to departmental communications work
  • General support to the Business Planning team for data analyses and reporting


The above duties/responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work; other work may be assigned.

Training & Experience


  • Undergraduate/Graduate students preferred pursuing degrees in Accounting or Finance, graduating in December 2020 or later. We will consider other similar disciplines.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Organized and efficient time manager with demonstrated ability to work unsupervised
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfort engaging with senior leaders and global teams
  • At least a 3.0 GPA or equivalent
  • Valid work authorization to work in the United States for this position. 


Working Conditions


  • This is a full-time (40 hours per week), paid internship that will run from approximately May 11, 2020 thru August 14, 2020 depending on the selected student's school schedule.
  • This role will be located at our Corporate Headquarters located in Greenwood Village, CO.
