  • The Senior Manager of Project Financial Analysis collaborates with Project Execution Services (PES) team to standardize project financial analysis guidelines, project management, and reporting policies.
  • The position is responsible for preparing, monitoring, analyzing, and reviewing Investment Evaluation Models (IEM) in order to provide consistent and comparable financial metrics to PES team; outputs are used in global project reporting and in order to allow the corporation to make timely and informed investment decisions. Coordinate and analyze data and assumptions used in IEMs.
  • Participates in the financial analysis for Project Investment Reviews to update executives and/or Board of Directors on the status of major capital investments: Project Execution Review, End of Execution Review, Post Investment Reviews.
  • Support Study/Project Directors with stage gate deliverables; Investment Evaluation Model (IEM) and Basis of Estimate.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with regional financial modelers to ensure financial modeling guidance is consistently applied across the globe.
  • Perform wide variety of duties necessary to drive continuous improvement of business services to include project accounting practices, external project metric reporting and messaging.
Essential Duties
  • Prepare financial models for all Projects which report directly to the SVP, Projects.  Support other Study/Project Directors as necessary.  Coordiante with various functional lead to collect and record financial inputs; to include but not limited to mine planning, project controls, reclamation, operations sustaining capital, processing, etc.
  • Work with cross-functional team to ensure financial modeling accuracy in Project tax assumptions, and accounting assumptions to include classification of expenditure and commercial production criteria across the global portfolio.
  • Monitor and analyze changes to financial metrics across the global project portfolio in order to present Investments which are consistent and comparable; perform QA/QC of IEM, Basis of Estimate, and Investment Review Paper prior to submittal to the Value Assurance team for gate review.
  • Monitor and control project financial metrics for internal and external financial reporting; Monthly Dashboards, Project Performance Review, gate submittals, and Investor Relations.
  • Support Project Investment Reviews to update executives and/or Board of Directors on the status of major capital investments: Project Execution Review, End of Execution Review, Post Investment Reviews.
  • Perform wide variety of duties to support Director, Project Execution Services with any special projects, guideline management, continuous improvement efforts, reporting, and/or presentations as required.
  • Evaluate Project business case risk through Value Range Assessment (VRAP) modeling, sensitivity analysis, etc.
  • Provide guidance, support and oversight to investment teams on financial modeling requirements and best practices.
  • Support global project business planning process.

Training & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or Mine Engineering
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP), as well as costing and budgeting concepts and techniques are required.
  • MBA studies and Post graduate are recommended.
  • Minimum of B.S. degree in business, finance, mine engineering or related discipline; Masters/MBA degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Requires 8-10 years of progressive experience, preferably in a mining environment or natural resources company, and management experience with multi-functional, broad-based management responsibilities.
  • Knowledge/experience in business, financial management, accounting, and tax planning.
  • Exposure to SAP product suite and Newmont ERP tools preferred.
  • Project management expertise inclusive of planning, managing, project execution, project controls, valuation, risk analysis, change management/trends, report generation and stochastic simulation.
  • Ability to manage projects and team leadership skills required.
  • Experience working with and EPCM contractor in a mining or mega project focus.
  • PMP certification or other project management training a plus
  • International experience, exposure and breadth important.
  • Requires leadership, management, judgment, advances problem solving, communications skills and initiative.
  • The ability to participate in, manage and motivate teams is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with adaptability to work with people from various cultures and areas of the business; builds and maintains highly effective working relationships.
  • Ability to think strategically; comfortable moving between strategic and tactical requirements of the role.
  • Broad business knowledge and focus, ability to recognize issues, problems and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Ability to influence and drive change in the organization.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills appropriate for consultation to all levels of management. The ability to present ideas clearly, facilitate discussions and reach agreement or consensus.
  • Strong PC skills using MS office software; Microsoft Word, Crystal Ball, and Excel applications
  • Ability to mentor, coach and direct workgroup by establishing stretch goals for development of staff and promotion of business growth within the global corporation.
Working Conditions
  • The position is located in the Vancouver Project office.
  • Telephone calls before and/or after normal business hours are required.
  • Position may be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites.
