About This Role

  • Do you have an engineering degree and at least 12 years of experience?

  • Become a Chief Engineer and lead a committed team in all aspects of safety as you craft mine designs and plans, handle finances, and work with peers across levels and teams in our Long Canyon team in Northern Nevada

In This Role You Will

  • Lead group in safety inspections, safety interactions, fatality risk management, and other safety initiatives to progress the team on the Newmont Safety Journey
  • Lead annual life of mine business planning activities including all aspects of mine design, scheduling and costing
  • Apply sound engineering principles to build mine designs
  • Work with our regional strategic planning to create and implement optimized mine plans and produce annual reserves and resources reporting
  • Help develop exploration targets as well as life of mine reclamation plans
  • Research and evaluate equipment, designs, procedures and process to improve and optimize ore extraction and profitability
  • Provide capital expenditure estimates including annual and long term equipment plans
  • Collaborate, communicate and work effectively with team members from across the site to achieve goals and overcome challenges
  • Inform associates and supervisors of plans, opportunities and pitfalls associated with engineering designs and schedules
  • Mentor engineering staff through effective coaching
  • Participate in succession planning to grow and develop of employees
  • Ensure compliance with all company and industry regulations

Your Training, Skills and Experience Checklist

  • B.S. degree in Engineering 
  • 12 years experience in a specialty area, with at least 5 at a medium operating mine site
  • Experience supervising an engineering area or project management
  • Strong communication skills including technical and written communications, personal interaction and presentations skills
  • Leadership skills, mentoring, and people development
  • Negotiation skills
  • Dedicated to safety
