This position ensures site compliance with environmental permits and plans.


Essential Duties


  • Complete environmental inspections, environmental compliance sampling,and audits, and maintain records for documenting compliance with regulatory statutes and company governance.
  • Groundwater, surface water, and soil sample collection, packaging, and shipping.
  • Work with on-site and off-site corporate and consulting personnel in scheduling, planning and assisting with performance of site reclamation and closure activities.
  • Prepare permit applications in collaboration with senior level staff.
  • Documentation and records retention of all sampling events, field parameters and analytical results. Data review, and interpretation. Prepare and distribute environmental compliance reports.
  • Maintain environmental lab including field instruments, sampling pumps and generators. Clean, maintain and calibrate field instruments using standard methods for equipment calibration. Assist in installation of equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain tailing facility and barrel storage areas. Prepare material for shipment to offsite disposal and treatment facilities. Conduct other site inspections as needed.
  • Administer noxious weed control program including identification and mapping of weeds using knowledge of plant identification and habitat, control weeds with proper application of herbicides, and maintain records of control activities.

Training & Experience



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Environmental Regulations and NEPA, RCRA, ISO 14001 preferred


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Mining or extraction industry experience preferred.

Working Conditions


  • Based in Elko, NV you will support reclamation sites in Alaska, Arizona, California, Montana, Nevada, and Utah.
  • Approximately 65-75% of your time will be in the field with possible exposure to harsh winter/summer weather conditions, chemical, mine waste, and wildlife.
  • You will be required to travel and assist domestic legacy sites with the possibility of consultation with international legacy sites.
  • Working in this environment, you shall be available to travel as necessary - this may include flying as a passenger in helicopters and small aircraft.
  • Driving to/from sampling and work locations using company vehicles under all weather conditions.
  • Requires lifting up to 70 pounds, sorting of materials, equipment and boxes and small pump repair.
  • Requires operation and interaction with general office computers and a working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Hearing and vision sufficient to distinguish various pitches/colors of warning alarms.
  • Walking on rough, uneven, inclined or wet terrain.
