About this role

What will you be responsible for?

  • Lead Data Governance activities within the Data Management Organization
  • Lead deployment projects and support technology that will contribute to data quality, integrity, accuracy and timeliness globally, across all systems
  • Partner with the Global Business Process Owners to achieve business objectives and goals
  • Engage with Supply Chain and Enterprise Asset Management (equipment) personnel in all regions and at all levels to ensure master data compliance with policies and business requirements
  • Ensure all business process improvements are supported by the master data and master data processes
  • Identify and articulate business ideas, suggestions and propose problem resolutions within functional areas of responsibility 

In this role you will

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • Act as Data Governance SME for the Materials/Assets master data domains to ensure consistency, uniformity, approval, and accuracy of data globally, across all systems
  • Assess and resolve all data quality issues for assigned data domain(s); collaborate with partners to recommend and implement appropriate business solutions
  • Implement proactive controls for data standards in SAP MDG, and supervise data quality
  • Sophisticated data querying, profiling, and ETL using multiple sources to support business requirements and major projects
  • Ensure the data decisions are consistently and clearly communicated throughout all impacted partners
  • Build designated reports to run weekly/bi-weekly/monthly that will support analytics, data quality dashboards, metrics, etc
  • Take ownership of all domain policies, procedures, processes, and forms documentation. Maintain, communicate and train as vital to ensure understanding and compliance
  • Perform root cause analysis of master data change requests to resolve potential issues. Work with the business function and GBPOs as appropriate to resolve any issues and improve process efficiencies
  • Develop and implement data quality measurement criteria
  • Act as Lead for IT projects related to Data Management and for the Data360 Govern data catalog.
  • Develop an intake process and roadmap for additional releases of the SAP MDG solution
  • Influence and guide business on decisions surrounding data
  • Run business process improvements that will promote greater data integrity and control
  • Lead all Data Management and Data Governance data clean-up and validation efforts within the domain and proactively take initiative to all business partners and team members to ensure the integrity and fit-for-purpose of master data, globally
  • Connect with manager on project ideas, progress, and decisions; raise to manager when support is needed
  • Ensure adherence to all SOX and Data Governance policies and procedures, and implement audit checks and annual validations.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements based on audit results to insure data integrity and adherence to all SOX and Data Governance policies & procedures

Here is what we would need to see from you!
Knowledge: 

  • B.S. degree in related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Solid understanding of end to end business processes

Experience: 

  • SAP experience with Materials Master Data required, similar ERP experience considered
  • SQL and Tableau experience is important
  • SAP MDG experience strongly preferred
  • SAP MM implementation experience is a plus
  • 5+ years of Master Data governance experience preferred;.
  • 2+ years of project management experience preferred;
  • Experience in a multi-divisional global business
  • Strong PC skills using MS Office software; Proficient in Excel

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Problem solving abilities in sophisticated and ambiguous situations
  • High sense of urgency and follow through
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, Diligent
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Multilingual capabilities are a plus (English required, Spanish, French, and/or Dutch helpful)
  • Python programming skills are a plus

Working conditions & location

Where you will be located!

  • The position can be located in any standard Newmont location, with preference for the Denver corporate office.
  • Flexible hours to accommodate global meeting times.
  • Willingness to put in extra hours based on projects and priorities.
  • Some travel to domestic and international sites may be required.

The salary range offered for this role is $98,400 to 129,150. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
