Essential Duties
  • Ensures that service providers are carrying out all aspects of contractual obligation for proactive and preventative maintenance of the wireless and 2-way radio networks.
  • Collaborates with the CC&V IT team in definition of wireless network standards and is responsible for local implementation and compliance.
  • Responsible for ensuring that CC&V wireless network and 2-way radio system documentation is accurate and maintained on a timely basis.
  • Participate in review of CC&V Wireless Network Communication and 2-Way Radio projects and work with the stakeholders, prepare the necessary scoping documents, including investigation of impact, compliance, cost, and benefits.
  • Performs a support role for the site in wireless and 2-way radio network-related projects, including definition of site requirements, input and validation to site designs, and oversight of technology implementations. 
  • Works closely with Infrastructure, Network and Service Analysts to understand the Server and Active Directory environments and IT facilities. Provides backup when necessary.
  • Assist in the support of all aspects of Newmont Goldcorp-owned IT facilities as applicable to CC&V, which may include data center, communication rooms, access control, HVAC/UPS, cabling, microwave and microwave shelters, and related services.
  • Responsible for coordinating site wireless network and 2-way radio procurement. Able to maintain and review wireless and radio system logs.
  • Ensures that all aspects of Newmont Goldcorp's CC&V site wireless network and 2-way radio facilities are supported and maintained to standards as applicable, which may include fiber optics & copper cabling, communication rooms, access control, cabling, microwave, communication shelters and related services.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the communications infrastructure is maintained to provide reliable services for the site, including working with service providers to ensure that the wireless network and 2-Way Radio systems are stable and highly available.
  • Ensures that the logical and physical wireless network and 2-way radio systems are performing as required and works with internal and external service providers to repair and restore service as needed.
  • Coordinate, configure and test wireless network equipment firmware upgrades.
  • Plans and coordinates work related to all mine two-way and XM radios.
  • Coordinates and manages change for communications and related equipment to improve effectiveness of the mine communications sytems.
  • Provides coordination and support to service providers in relation to configuration management for related hardware.

Training & Experience
  • University Degree or equivalent experience. Five (5) years’ experience in a technical support role.
  • Possess strong Wireless Network knowledge and understanding with an emphasis on Cisco hardware and technology as well as MotorTurbo radio skills in IT operations, customer relationship management and outsourcing vendor relationship management
  • Wireless Network and related CISCO certifications a plus
  • Proven ability to discuss wireless network and 2-way radio strategies in simple, clear terms to help drive and influence decision making of business and application owners
  • Broad knowledge of all technology considerations (performance, scalability, maintainability, deployment, operations, technology infrastructure)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) and Visio.
Working Conditions
  • Office and field work as required.
  • Position may require travel to other Newmont Goldcorp sites
  • Position requires Driver License.
