What will you be responsible for?


 

Newmont Cripple and Victor Mines is seeking a Senior Metallurgist II to provide technical support for the Crushing, Valley Leach Pad and Adsorption Desorption Recovery Facilities. The role will also be accountable for all production planning, including completion of stacking plans, metal plans, and production forecasting/budgeting. The position will help define production targets and troubleshooting of the leaching and recovery process to consistently achieve forecast/budget. This role will work closely with relevant site leadership, Process Operations and Maintenance groups, and other team members to safely achieve budgeted production targets.

  • Your safety and the safety of your reports
  • We ensure Environmental Compliance – Key Personnel for all Process Environmental Compliance
  • We lead all aspects of the Safe Operation of the Plants- All Areas Performance
  • People – Head Count Process Ops
  • We facilitate all process performance – key KPI and strategies to ways improve
  • Production (Plant efficiency, Leach Pad Stacking, Leach Pad Piping, Irritation Ounce Profile, Ounce Poured)
  • Water modeling
  • Long term Strategic Planning
  • Capital Budget Planning (Process)
  • Business Planning (Metal Plan, OPEX, CAPEX, Commodities, Headcount etc.)
  • We act as a liaison with customers and contractor representatives and communication with Process Asset Management and Metallurgy
  • We operate with transparent, felt, and engaged leadership within the Metallurgy group
  • We provide direct supervision of Engineers and Metallurgical technicians and assist with the evaluation of capital projects
  • We ensure that employees follow state and federal safety and health regulations, company policies and procedures, and the company's environmental compliance policy
  • We conduct staff and safety meetings. Ensure line-of-progression is determined and acted upon. Ensure training at all levels is being performed
  • We review and comment on plant design, production, and process, then initiate changes Constantly seek out new 'standard processes' and be able to present them to Managers and Directors.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

 

Basic Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical engineering
  • 8+ Years of Metallurgical experience in mining setting
  • Hands on experience in Gold Heap Leaching
  • Water Balance Modelling experience
  • Ore Stacking planning experience
  • Metal planning and recovery optimization experience
  • Experience with valley/heap leaching stacking and water modeling software/tools eg. BPC, AutoCAD, Xeras etc.
  • Good digital literacy.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work directly with others.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Leadership experience supervising others including Metallurgical Engineers.

The salary range offered for this role is $$144,360 - $180,450. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

 

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
