About this role

What will you be responsible for?
Lead, supervise, and mentor crew personnel to carry out departmental functions safely, efficiently, and according to the business plan.

 

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  •  Direct and manage daily crew activity to achieve safe, efficient, and optimal production Effectively interface with other departments and contractors in pursuit of mine site production goals.
  • Motivate, coach, and develop employees to achieve mine site production goals.
  • Implement and hold accountable crew adherence and support of the HSLP and Environmental program and associated policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient use of mining and associated support equipment, including task training of mining and support equipment operators.
  • Process, understand, and pursue the key objectives associated with mine production (production targets and associated cost constraints).
  • Understand and follow engineering mine plans and engage in productive communication with the planning engineers and surveyors.
  • Lead and mentor with the Newmont visions and values as the foundation for decision making Ensure all reporting is accurately completed in a timely manner (HSLP, CPI’s, Environmental, daily shift log, HR, and crew documentation).
  • Drive “Safe Work Performance” through clear and concise communication of associated safety procedures, appropriate tool use, and task training.
  • Proficiently operate and engage the workforce in the accurate use of the MineStar Mine Management Control System.
  • Responsible for developing future proficient equipment operators from within the crew.

Education:

  • Degree in Mine Engineering or related field 

Experience:

  •  Minimum 5 years of mining experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience are necessary.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and consultation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Ability to identify and analyze organizational needs.
  • Demonstrate strong supervisory, verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions and Location

  •  Must be able to work rotating schedule. 
  • Mine located in Cripple Creek, Colorado.
  • Ability to alter work schedule when required.
  • Must be able to work at high altitude

The salary range offered for this role is USD $$82,200 - $102,700. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
