About this role

What you will be responsible for?

The Mine Maintenance Superintendent coordinates the proper safety, costs, efficiency, and people and asset management for Hauling and Support equipment.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day-to-day will look like:

  • Ensure select technologies for AM, and practices for asset health, condition, and performance monitoring are managed appropriately. (Dingo Trakka notifications, etc.)
  • Establish processes and procedures for work execution, including WO shop papers, effective shift hand-over, recommissioning, completion, and signoff by technicians and supervisors
  • Participate in and help drive the weekly final maintenance plan review meeting (Working in conjunction with mine operations)
  • Review and monitor daily, weekly and monthly equipment performance and work management targets
  • Accountable for ensuring accurate Work Order input (time confirmations / long text, TECO, etc.)
  • Flipping WO's for parts coordinators that are ordering parts for supervisors
  • Change pricing for WO's for buyers (ex: changing pricing by $0.01)
  • Complete PM and Pre PM audits in the shops and field on equipment (maintenance plan)
  • Report on non-conformances to the maintenance plans and related KPI targets
  • Ensure maintenance tasks aligned with recommended hydrocarbon management practices
  • Collaborate on development of annual budget to support delivery of asset strategies, planned shutdowns, and major repairs
  • Monitor expenditures, review budget and expenses, provide accounting appropriate reallocations, re-classes and accruals. Provide variance explanations.
  • Urgent Projects - Ensure development of SOW for vendors and contractors (outside of OEM work)
  • Spend appropriate time in the field mentoring safety behavior by reinforcing positive behaviors and addressing concerns
  • Demonstrate ownership of the departmental Fatal Risk Management & CCVs
  • Ensure supervisors are meeting Critical Control Verification KPI expectations
  • Identify hazards in workplace and address unsafe acts and conditions and call out hazards and risks and manage them in the Enablon database
  • Facilitate/ review/ sign off on job hazard analysis with employees for new or non-routine task assignments
  • Oversee adherence of regulatory safety requirements and assess compliance within the department (i.e., adherence to inspection schedules, JHA execution, pressure vessel inspection, etc.)
  • Lead/own incident investigation for high-consequence events
  • Maintain current training on Rapid Response - Cripple Creek & Victor SRT Recovery
  • Manage/implement corrective and preventative procedures (emergency response if applicable, reporting/notification, securing scene for investigation, etc.)
  • Ensure maintenance supervisors are meeting shift Pre-Start Board expectations
  • Ensure supervisors are using appropriate work permits, and that they are completed, appropriately approved, and signed off
  • Set team goals and expectations based on departmental and mine objectives
  • Conduct daily, weekly and monthly meetings and use 3Ws To track actions
  • Ensure training requirements matrix based on employee skill and competencies is developed
  • Build development plans for Supervisors and lead their development
  • Staff department to meet the business plan (1-year to 3-year window)
  • Maintain a strong contract management capability within the maintenance group
  • Align performance measures with mine's business targets/ site KPIs
  • Communicate and review KPIs with operations and maintenance personnel 
  • Ensure commissioning personnel and contractors are inducted prior to coming to site

Education and Experience

Knowledge: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience required
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment asset management and maintenance
  • Mine or related experience preferred

Experience: 

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant heavy diesel equipment asset/maintenance management experience.
  • Mining, construction, utilities, or other heavy industry experience is helpful. 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must have the ability to effectively use Microsoft Word and Excel applications 
  • Strong PC skills using MS Office software 

Working Conditions & Location

Where you will be located!

  • This position is located at our Cripple Creek & Victor Mine Site near Cripple Creek, CO.
  • The work environment is above 10,000 ft., which requires working at high altitude in adverse weather conditions. The successful candidate must pass a high-altitude medical assessment prior to being offered employment at Cripple Creek.

The salary range offered for this role is $116,960- 138,890. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
