Mine General Foreman, Surface Operations - CC&V

Purpose

Responsible for mine plans, feed for process plants, equipment and mining costs. Mentor crew personnel to carry out departmental functions safely and efficiently.

Essential Duties
  • Conduct safety meetings, staff meetings, and safety inspections. Demonstrate a strong personal commitment to safety and environment.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to the Mine Operations Foreman.
  • Develop, administer and communicate department and company policies & procedures.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department in scheduling equipment while balancing maintenance and operational priorities.
  • Develop a technically competent and credible team which will continuously improve the mining operation.
  • Interface with other departments to promote site teamwork and efficiencies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision and to effectively plan, coordinate and complete individual projects in addition to maintaining daily production responsibilities.
  • Assist with planning and preparation of budgets. Monitor performance against budget and time schedule. Monitor and review costs. Provide accurate explanations of budget variances.
  • Participate in the hourly review process. Evaluate performance, provide feedback and help establish goals for salaried staff.
  • Assist in investigations and administer discipline when required.
  • Oversee Paid Time Off and overtime scheduling.
  • Administer company policy, state and federal laws, and environmental compliance.
  • Responsible for developing future proficient equipment operators from within the crew.

Training & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or relevant field and seven (7) years experience OR twelve (12) years of related experience.
  • At least six (6) years in a supervisory position desired.
