Manager, Human Resources & Community Relations

Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources North America, the Manager, Human Resources is a senior level business partner, responsible for the execution of HR strategy, services and community relations support in alignment with business operations at CC&V Mine.

Essential Duties
  • Collaborate with leaders to contribute to business direction and strategy through the effective development and deployment of Company HR and Community Relations initiatives
  • Work closely with the site leadership team to develop, manage and implement people processes, policies, programs and community relations strategies
  • Work closely with the Senior Site Leadership Team and Regional Sustainability and External Relations (S&ER) team to assess site performance against Newmont Goldcorp Social Performance Standards and develop action plans to close off any gaps 
  • In close collaboration with the Regional S&ER team, lead the development of the CC&V Stakeholder Management Plan, Communications Plan, Local Employment and Procurement plans, and Community Contributions Plan
  • Work with leaders to anticipate future human capital requirements based on business, industry and market conditions
  • Support HR projects and strategic initiatives to enable performance and engagement within the organization
  • Partner with Regional HR team to drive HR systems improvement initiatives
  • Provide pro-active guidance and coaching to employees, leaders and managers on the areas of performance management, policy interpretation and implementation, human rights and employment legislation, conflict resolution and legal requirements
  • Manages employee relations, including counselling line management and employees to achieve resolutions
  • Create and maintain a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Provides leadership to direct reports and fosters an environment of development encouraging growth of team members
  • In partnership with the Regional HR team, oversees the collection of key data; analyses and communicates the data and makes appropriate recommendations
  • Overall management of CC&V’s workforce, including development of longer-term strategies for workforce management
  • Provide advice to Site and other Leaders about the current operations context from a ‘people’ perspective focused on increasing the quality of leadership and creating an environment where people can contribute effectively
  • Support site leadership on talent attraction, management, engagement, development and succession planning in an integrated and scalable manner in the best interest of the whole Company in the mid and long term
  • Consults with the Regional HR team, leveraging the resources within Total Rewards, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partner to deliver HR solutions that solve problems, improve existing processes and drive organizational culture
Training & Experience
  • 10+ years’ managerial experience successfully planning, leading and implementing innovative HR standards and practices
  • Relevant experience in large multinational public companies
  • Ability to manage multiple and often competing priorities and objectives
  • Experience coaching employees and management through complex issues
  • Experience dealing with a wide range of HR issues such as employee relations, learning and development, talent management and total rewards
  • Proficiency in HR information systems
  • Experience leading high complexity and scale manufacturing, or extractive industry sites is expected (mining, automotive, oil and gas, cement, etc.)
  • +8 years leading large teams
  • Bilingual would be an asset (English, Spanish, French)
  • Proven leadership capabilities especially in the areas of strategic thinking, collaborating and influencing and driving results in a multi facetted environment.
  • Capacity to operate in complex political and remote environments.
  • High ethical standards
