Dimensions

Purpose

Supervises and trains junior engineers and technicians in the areas of: operational engineering, planning, development, production, stope designs, surveying, and projects.

Essential Duties

  • Develops, implements, trains and holds accountable a comprehensive health, safety and loss prevention program and an environmental performance program.
  • Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities.
  • Engineer and devise new approaches to problems encountered. Work requires originality and judgment in the independent evaluation and development of optimal resolution for problems.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Plan, manage and conduct surveys, tests, or investigations, interpret results, and prepare recommendations, summaries, schedules, and cost estimates; meet with representatives of other departments to coordinate planning and scheduling activities.
  • Schedule and coordinate the work of junior engineers and technicians in order to complete work on time and within budget parameters.
  • Leads and manages the team by clearly defining expectations of the team members' roles and responsibilities.
  • Co-develops near term and life-of-mine plans and long term programs for the underground: equipment requirements, personnel requirements, supply requirements, and budget/cost estimates.
  • Trains and teaches direct reports, and ensures indirect reports are trained, on what is needed to do their jobs safely, effectively, and within Company policy and Country laws.
  • Works with and interacts well with other groups, such as Environmental, HSLP, Human Resources, Materials, and Maintenance/Process teams.
  • Manages and organizes the team to optimize the efficiency of the operation

Training & Experience

  • A degree in Mining Engineering or related field and 10 years of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Underground engineering, operations, surveying, and projects experience
  • Underground projects start up experience.
  • Business Excellence and Full Potential experience.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills in the area of: presentations, written, listening, providing feedback and speaking.

Possesses the business sense, technical sense and vision to develop improvement programs

Working Conditions

  • The position is located in Cajamarca, Peru.  Elev. 9,100ft AMSL.  At times, Site work will become necessary where elevations reach +13,000ft AMSL

Performance of the work may require travel (10-25% of work time) to domestic and international operations and the corporate office
