Superintendent - Mine Maintenance (Hauling & Ancillary)

About The Role:

Reporting to the Mining Asset Manager, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of the maintenance repairs to the Newmont Boddington HME Truck & Ancillary Fleet in support of operational requirements. In this role, you will lead the Newmont Maintenance Team in conjunction with key onsite Business Partners to ensure compliance with all safety, environment, community, business and commercial aspects of the operation.

In This Role You Will:
  • Demonstrate personal commitment in regard to safety, and environmental and Social Responsibility practices
  • Provide exceptional leadership to 9 direct reports and approximately 120 indirect reports
  • Coordinate the effective maintenance of the mine hauling and support/ancillary equipment fleet to support budgeted deliverables of the Mining Operation
  • Be accountable for the quality of work output from the unit/department through an ongoing monitoring and audit process
  • Support plant maintenance strategies to ensure optimum equipment performance and cost
  • Support Planning and Engineering in the delivery of detailed maintenance schedules and allocation of resources to ensure all work is completed in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner
  • Provide input into the strategic planning process for all mobile assets including capital projects within area of responsibility
  • Support long term planning and scheduling strategies to minimise backlog, utilising effective component condition monitoring techniques
  • Maintain and utilise planning attainment KPI’s to continuously improve maintenance and planning practices
  • Management of key onsite contractors (Tyres) to support the delivery of mining requirements
  • Develop maintenance site standards where Global Standards are not available or practical
  • Complete and review incident investigations to ensure all causes have been identified to ensure controls can be implemented to reduce the level of risk
Your Skills, Training & Experience Checklist:
  • A Mechanical or Electrical Trade Qualifications with Post Trade Qualifications desirable.
  • A minimum of ten years management or senior supervisory experience in a large open cut mining operation with a diverse range of equipment.
  • At least ten years mine operations experience and / or in a similar role in a large open cut mine using electric shovels, large trucks, support equipment and drills.
  • The ability to multitask and operate in a disciplined and effective manner within a high intensity environment for extended time frames.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral communication skills with a proven ability to influence, involve and gain the cooperation and consensus of a diverse group of stakeholders to ensure short term operational objectives are achieved in an efficient manner for an optimal solution
  • Advanced PC skills and computer literacy including experience with the ERP software packages, reporting tools and production monitoring/Fleet Management System tools.

Desirable but not essential:

  • A degree Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or similar.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or LEAN certification
  • A strong desire to expand and apply technical and operational knowledge in the continuous improvement of the operation.
  • Exposure to Autonomous Mining and Maintenance Requirements
