In This Role You Will

  • Ensure metallurgical production targets are achieved, by establishing and advising operating parameters to mill production personnel.
  • Investigate excursions from optimum plant performance and provide explanations for such excursions.
  • Assist the process control team with managing process improvements
  • Plan and execute laboratory test work programs, laboratory trials and plant trails.
  • Set and maintain a high standard in the areas of safety, community relations and the environment by promoting and adhering to NBG’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Ensure staff resources are maintained at budgeted levels and staff members undertake appropriate training and development so they are skilled efficiently to perform allocated duties.
  • Overview, provide direction and act as a reference point and mentor for staff while ensuring work outputs are in line with strategic and business plans.
  • Investigate and research new technology and equipment which may improve plant performance.
  • Be responsible for the development of metallurgical functional work plans.
  • Be responsible for the achievement of the plans and goals through ongoing monitoring of progress.
  • Be accountable for the daily adaptation of plans, schedules and work orders to meet changing conditions that will best achieve overall goals.
  • Oversee development projects, control and direct project status, initiate corrective action to deliver projects on time and cost by ensuring project compliance and quality are achieved while identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Provide input to the NBG budget preparation process, including metallurgical recovery functions, throughput predictions, concentrate grade functions and reagent and consumable consumptions.
  • Monitor and control consumable expenditure to ensure compliance with NBG budget and forecasts and highlight any variance to management. In particular, reagent and grinding media consumption and stock levels.

Your Skills, Training & Experience Checklist

  • Tertiary Qualification – Degree in Metallurgy or related field
  • 7 - 10 Years post graduate experience in the industry
  • Excellent communication and team based skills
  • 3+ Years experience in gold or base metals and milling operations (desirable)
  • Minimum 2 Years Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with Comminution, Flotation or Gold Leaching operations.
  • Advanced PC skills and computer literacy
  • Statistical Analysis Tools (six sigma or similar)
  • Understanding of financial and administrative processes
  • Self motivated
  • Accountable and decisive
  • Current C class Drivers Licence
  • Member of AusIMM
