About The Role

You will lead and develop a team of safety professionals who support the operation to meet business objectives without harm.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Partnership with Operational Leaders in improving HSS performance
  • Visible and vocal safety leadership across the operation
  • Leading and developing a team of Safety professionals to support the operation to deliver and achieve safe production outcomes
  • Managing a contractor security team to execute site security needs and deliver continuous security improvements
  • Event classification guidance and governance
  • Deployment of capable safety resources to support risk assessments and event investigations
  • Supporting contract owners in ensuring safe contractor work practices
  • Liaison with key external stakeholders
  • Ensure site compliance with Newmont’s HSS standards and relevant legislative requirements
  • Safety data reporting and analysis – effectively identifying and sharing trends and issues
  • Safety and security budget cost management
  • Direct involvement and support of the Newmont assurance program
  • Maintain direct contact with peers to ensure alignment and standardisation across Newmont
  • Oversee site OHS Representative program



About You

The following skills and experience will be key to your success in this role.

  • Tertiary qualification in health, safety, engineering or human factors
  • Substantial safety experience in mining or heavy industry
  • Experience in gold security desirable
  • Strong communication, engagement and influencing skills
  • Ability to:-
    • Lead and develop a team of professionals
    • Problem solve complex issues
    • Coach, support and influence site leaders
  • Knowledge and understanding of:-
    • Risk management and assurance processes
    • Safety legislation
  • Analytical capability and data based decision making
