About The Role:

Reporting to the Regional Hygiene Superintendent, you will utilise your skills and positive work ethic to provide technical support to the occupational hygiene function at a site level.

You will manage and apply standards and procedures required for the ongoing maintenance of site Occupational Hygiene programs. You will ensure our systems and procedures support the operational needs of our department.

In This Role You Will:
  • Co-ordinate and lead the site Hygiene Technicians to undertake all duties associated with compliance against the site Health & Hygiene Management Plan.
  • Develop and execute annual risk based monitoring plans based on the analysis of hygiene data
  • Conduct or facilitate health and hygiene investigations, including applicable baseline surveys, recommendation of controls and control effectiveness assessments
  • Meet Company and legal reporting standards and record keeping associated with Occupational Health and Hygiene. Including Department of Health reporting for potable and recycled water systems, DMIRS reporting for exposure monitoring and site ventilation.
  • Co-ordinate the performance and monitoring all mandatory health surveillance functions.
  • Educating, communicating and engaging with site leaders, operational personnel and business partners.
  • Maintaining statutory appointment of Surface Ventilation Officers for the processing plant, mine site and Bunbury port operations.
Your Skills, Training & Experience Checklist:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a Health, OHS or Science discipline
  • Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Hygiene, or the ability to commence
  • Experience in occupational hygiene across mining or heavy industry
  • Strong awareness of applicable industry standards and legislation applicable to the role
  • Maintain Surface Ventilation Officer and Noise Officer qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical capability
  • Membership of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) (desirable)
  • Ability to:
    • Lead and develop a team of professionals
    • Problem solve complex issues
    • Coach, support and influence site leaders
