Newmont is looking for a skilled and energetic Metallurgical Engineer for a world class gold mine operation in Northern Nevada.  Great company, great team, exciting work with multiple unit operations and opportunities. Perform a variety of complex engineering duties while supporting the needs of multiple departments.

Essential Duties

  • Day to day safe production, plant improvement, and economic development.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, and outside departments to ensure environmental compliance and safe functionality of plant operations and maintaining of equipment.
  • Develop novel approaches and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities. Devise new approaches to problems encountered. Work requires originality and expert engineering judgment in the independent evaluation and resolution of problems.
  • Plan and conduct surveys, tests, or investigations, interpret results, and prepare recommendations, summaries, schedules, and cost estimates. Meet with representatives of other departments to coordinate planning and scheduling activities.
  • Schedule and coordinate the work of project members in order to complete work on time and within budget parameters.
  • Perform work which includes a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work for a major project.

Training & Experience

  • Requires a B.S. degree in Engineering (Metallurgical, Chemical) and 2 years of experience in a speciality area are necessary
  • Mining industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of grinding, milling, flotation, and process control desired.

Working Conditions

Plant and office based with occasional access to mining areas, rough terrain, or exploration sites.
