About the role

The Production Geologist is a member of the Technical Services - Geology team. He/she is responsible for assessing the extent, orientation and composition of mineral resources and reserves. He/she plans and coordinates the development of mineral zones.

Essential Duties

  • Plan and describe definition drilling at the mine site
  • Interpret observational data to produce geological maps describing the extent and orientation of geological units, structures and ore zones
  • Calculate ore tonnage and grade, and participate in profitability calculations for mine workings
  • Collaborate with the engineering department in the preparation of monthly and quarterly operating forecasts
  • Collaborate with the engineering and mining operations departments to achieve minimum ore dilution during development and operation of stopes
  • Ensure proper execution of lateral development work in the deposit
  • Ensure quality control of sampling, geological mapping and evaluation of stopes
  • Respect, know and promote the company's regulations and policies, particularly in terms of health and safety.
  • All tasks related to the performance of duties

Training & Experience

  • University degree in applied geology, geological engineering or combination of relevant education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years geological experience in the underground mining sector
  • Member of the Ordre des Géologues du Québec or the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec
  • Hold a valid explosives and driver's license
  • Completion of mining module training (F.M.T.M.)
  • Strong computer skills including Deswik, Leapfrog, Vulcan and MS Office software
  • Bilingualism, French and English (an asset)

Working Conditions

  • Éléonore mine site (round-trip flights from Montreal, Chibougamau, Matagami, Rouyn-Noranda, Val D'Or and Wemindji)
  • Schedule: 14 days of work followed by 14 days of rest
