We are currently recruiting for a Senior Control Systems Engineer who will report into the Manager – Control Systems and Instrumentation.

 

The Senior Control Systems Engineer is a member of the Regional Fixed Plant Control team in Australia and is responsible for maintaining the availability and integrity of the industrial control system (ICS) infrastructure across multiple sites in the region.  The role will see you providing technical expertise on DCS, PLC & SCADA configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance and upgrades  As the expert in Control Systems you will also give technical guidance for networking, telemetry, and all site OT infrastructure including the PI Historian suite of applications. The role will have a team of three Control Systems Engineers and Specialists whom will require coaching and mentoring and will report directly into this role. As a leader you will provide support to maintenance, control room / operations and projects departments to safely maximise production capacity across both processing and mining facilities.

This position is regionally based therefore you may provide dedicated support to a single site, or provide general coverage for all sites in the region based on Newmont’s requirements.

 

The role:

  • Monitor multiple sites control system infrastructure status and resolve any issues identified
  • Supervise Control Systems Engineers/Specialists
  • Train/Mentor less experienced Control Systems Engineers/Specialists
  • Implement temporary and permanent change requests to ICS software/application
  • Execute and/or support projects impacting on site industrial control systems
  • Monitor, report and improve the key ICS performance metrics (alarm & controller reporting, system availability etc)
  • Diagnose and resolve operations and maintenance issues related to the industrial control system.
  • Support the site OT infrastructure and applications, including the PI Historian suite
  • Participation in the global process control community

 

About you:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working with control systems in any related industry
  • Previous supervision experience is highly desired
  • Significant and demonstrable experience in at least one of the following systems
    • Schneider Modicon PLC’s
    • Rockwell Control / Compact Logix PLC’s
    • Emerson DeltaV DCS
    • Citect SCADA /Wonderware HMI systems
    • Yokogawa Centum VP DCS
  • Significant exposure and understanding of industrial Ethernet networks
  • Significant exposure to ICS communications protocols including Modbus TCP/IP, OPC, Profibus etc.
  • Significant exposure to IT/OT fundamentals including virtual server installations, database management, active directory management, cyber-security,
  • Knowledge and understanding of OsiSoft PI application suite desirable
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for industrial control systems

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving ability
  • High attention to detail and effective communication
  • Ability to mentor and influence technical resources regionally and globally
  • Ability to interact competently with stakeholders at various levels up to and including site process managers
  • Ability to work effectively with site and broader control system teams
