About this role

What will you be responsible for?
Newmont is seeking a Security Tech II to become part of a high-performance team providing security services as per the CC&V security management plan. This role reports directly to the CC&V Security supervisor with daily coordination and interaction with the Security team.

Here is a snapshot of what your day-to-day will look like:

  • Responsible for ensuring security systems are monitored and reporting of any security infractions.
  • Conducting roving security patrols and checks as directed.
  • Conduct workplace security assessments and security checks to ensure current controls are in place and effective in preventing loss to the company.
  • Participate in security drills to assess security procedures and protocol effectiveness.
  • Conduct periodic security training as mandated. 
  • Make determinations based on security analysis and prepare reports for review with recommendations where required.
  • Ensure compliance with security, environmental, health and safety and social legislation and company regulations. 
  • Ensure visitors and business partners comply with MSHA regulations before accessing the mine site.
  • Ensure effective controls are in place and monitored for the entry and exit of personnel and materials.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership on improving security protocols where necessary.
  • Conduct BAT and UA testing when required.

Your Training, Skills & Experience

Here is what we need to see from you!
Education:

  • High School Diploma 
  • CPR / AED certification.
  • Valid drivers License.

Experience:

  • Experience in identifying and analyzing different types of vulnerabilities in security infrastructure, networks, systems, and procedures.
  • Understanding of mining terminology and mine security operations.
  • Conflict resolution training.
  • Experience in emergency response activation and systems
  • knowledge of MSHA safety & health regulations.
  • Law enforcement or prior military service is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to apply judgment and knowledge to suggest solutions to problems, recognizing trends, patterns and relationships when analyzing information. 
  • Basic knowledge of spreadsheets, databases & word processing programs
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with diverse groups and personalities.
  • Self-confident, motivated, and good organizational skills.

Working Conditions & Location

  • This position is located at our Cripple Creek & Victor Mine Site near Cripple Creek, CO.
  • The work environment is located above 10,000 ft. which requires working at high altitudes. The successful candidate must pass a high-altitude medical assessment.  
  • Shift work is a requirement.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $48,640- 57,760. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
