About This Role:

  • To supervise and coordinate the work executed and completed by Process Plant Mechanical Technicians to ensure that production plans are realised. 
  • To ensure that maintenance works are carried out under safe conditions and efficiently.

In This Role You Will:

Health and Safety Management

  • Comply with the Mine Regulation Act and other applicable regulation clauses that apply to ones’ own work area.
  • Oversee that all statutory requirements are met.
  • Maintain own and teams’ compliance with Plant procedures, including MOS.
  • Instruct team personnel on safe work practices and conduct regular workplace inspections.
  • Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every employee under or assigned to his/her supervision.
  • Conduct periodic safety meetings and inspections.
  • Attend monthly safety inspection and meetings.
  • Participate in event investigation and share lessons learnt from events from other sites


Mechanical Maintenance Execution

  • Organize, distribute and coordinate all mechanical works at Area Of Responsibility (AOR) of the process areas and others to support all of the activities assigned to Process Maintenance, including planning.
  • Work in conjunction with the General Foreman Maintenance Planning to determine mechanical maintenance backlogs, scheduling, resource allocation and equipment shutdown planning.
  • Work with Maintenance Technicians to achieve Process Plant equipment efficiency and availability
  • Assist in the development and review of the maintenance standard task procedures (STPs).
  • Liaise with the Administrative Coordinator in the communication of departmental procedures and policies.

 

Mechanical Maintenance Supervision

  • Oversee mechanical maintenance work in all process areas (i.e. Crushing, Grinding, CIL, Elution, CCD, WSF, TSF, Powerhouse and Workshop)
  • Conduct shift handover (PSI) meetings.
  • Assist in mechanical troubleshooting on the mills, Crusher, Agitators, All other plant equipment andassociated accessories. 
  • Manage and coordinate daily corrective actions.

 

Reporting

  • Produce reports indicating jobs completed for the day and submit the report to the General Foreman. 
  • Report safety and environment event into cintellate and participate in event investigation 

 

Staff Supervision

  • Supervise contractors in the completion of mechanical maintenance work and activities.
  • Work, in conjunction with top management and other supervisors, to track maintenance work completion and when contractors are required for work.
  • Supervise team responsible for the maintenance of the Process Plant and associated facilities.

 

Work Scheduling and Allocation

  • Schedule tasks for the mechanical maintenance crew according to the drafted plan.
  • Provide and coordinate support to the team executing plant modifications to achieve results in a timely manner.
     

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Inspecting Engineering Certification of competency

 

Additional Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of maintenance principles and industry standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical instrumentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of the work management process.
  • Advanced knowledge of planning and scheduling.
  • Strong working knowledge in maintenance plant equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge in maintenance of Cone Crushers, 
  • Grinding mill equipment and Agitators, conveyors and it accessories, maintenance of large slurry pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Working knowledge in Ellipse.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years’ experience in a mechanical maintenance environment within a mining process plant or similar.
  • Minimum of 3 – 4 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity, managing large and diverse teams

 

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy skills - MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), MS Project and SAP.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills (RCFA and FMEA)

Working Condition:

The Position is located in the Ahafo North mine site.
