We are currently recruiting for a Metallurgical Laboratory Technician who will report directly into the Metallurgical Laboratory Supervisor. We are offering this role on a 8:6 roster where you can drive in and out of site! You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the metallurgical laboratory and calibration of on-line analytical devices in the Newmont Boddington processing plant.

The role:

  • Conducting the daily metallurgical accounting balance and providing reports to the production metallurgists for approval. Reporting of approved figures within the agreed timeframe.
  • Conducting and reporting plant and laboratory test work in a timely and effective manner
  • Maintaining adequate data to permit the accurate calibration and performance of on line analysers (including; flotation On Stream Analyser and particle size analysers, cyanide analysers, rock size analysers, froth cameras).
  • Managing and updating laboratory and plant sampling systems and operating procedures.
  • Maintain sample storage and retrieval records such that samples can be located following test work programs for up to 3 months.
  • Be accountable for the submission of purchase requisitions and work orders as required and approved by the laboratory supervisor.
  • Provide input/informed commentary, improvement opportunities and areas of risk to management.
  • Be accountable for the quality of work output from the unit/department through an ongoing monitoring and audit process.
  • Provide appropriate education and communication to ensure shift technicians are competent in the operation and management of the on line analysers.

 
About you:

  • Excellent communication and team based skills
  • Previous Experience in Metallurgical Laboratories
  • Experience in gold or base metals and milling operations (desirable)
  • Competent PC skills and computer literacy
  • Previous experience with On Line Analysis Systems
  • Understanding of metallurgical accounting processes (desirable)
  • Mentoring skills
  • Problem solving ability
  • Current C class Drivers Licence
  • Current Forklift Ticket
